My Kid’s Food Allergies caught up with Chef Meagan Jeanette of Amore di Mona to get the low-down on their upscale, allergen-free chocolates.

Creating Healthy, Elegant Chocolates

Amore di Mona ensures the quality of their products with a European flair by importing their cocoa butter from Belgium and Holland, their cocoa solids from Belgium, their raw, organic and Fair Trade agave nectar from Madhava, and also by including fruits that are fresh, sulfite-free, sundried and organic.

Chef Meagan told MKFA that Amore di Mona’s production facility and equipment are privately owned and dedicated to making only Amore di Mona products. At present, Chef Meagan’s favorite Amore di Mona confection is the Caramela with Crunchy Coffee Beans. “It is made using La Semeuse’s Organic and Fair Trade coffee beans, and they are simply the best in the world. There is not even a hint of bitterness,” Chef Meagan says. “I love the crunchy texture and rich flavor of the coffee beans within the silky, sweet Caramela.” 

As for the customers, the Caramela is the front-runner as well. “Kids like this flavor especially,” says Chef Meagan. 

Currently, Amore di Mona offers several chocolate bars, including the plain Dark Chocolate and Caramela, the Caramela with Cherries, the Caramela with Cranberries, the Caramela with Coffee Beans, Dark Chocolate with Currants, and Dark Chocolate with coffee beans. They also offer gift boxes that include a mixture of three different bars, an assortment of all their chocolate selections arranged in an elegant gift box, and plain dark chocolate in bulk for use in recipes that call for chocolate.
