Apple butter is so delicious (and top 8 free—just read those labels to make sure). The added cranberry makes it a perfect treat for fall and winter.
Ingredients
  • 1/2 pound fresh organic cranberries well washed
  • 4 pounds organic apples Cortland, Empire, Fuji, McIntosh, or Spartan
  • 1 cup apple cider or unsweetened cranberry juice
  • 1 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1 TBS cinnamon
  • 2 tsp vanilla

Instructions
  1. Core and chop your apple(s) but don't peel them. In a slow cooker, combine your apples, cranberries and cider(or juice). Put a cover on the slow cooker and cook for five hours on high.
  2. In a food processor or blender, puree food mixture. Return the mixture to the cooker and add your maple syrup, cinnamon and vanilla. Cover again and cook for 1-2 hours on high.
  3. Refrigerate. Will keep for 2-4 weeks.
